Activist hedge fund Blackwells Capital has solicited support in a preliminary proxy filing, proposing three nominees for Walt Disney’s board of directors.
The nominees—Craig Hatkoff, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival; Jessica Schell, former executive VP of Warner Bros Home Entertainment; and Leah Solivan, founder and ex-CEO of TaskRabbit—bring diverse skills to enhance the board, according to Blackwells.
Additionally, the fund suggested a non-binding advisory resolution for Disney to expand the board and appoint its nominees if any fail to secure election.
This move follows Disney’s defense against activist shareholders’ nominees and Trian Fund’s call for “meaningful change” on the board.
