Mitsubishi is aiming to revitalize its brand with a plan called Momentum 2030. This plan includes more electric vehicles, updated dealerships, and several new models. It’s a bold plan, but if successful, it could make a big difference. Starting in 2026, Mitsubishi will release a new or updated model each year until 2030. The company will introduce more hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric cars. Additionally, the dealership network will expand and have a new design. Excitingly, Mitsubishi also plans to enter two new market segments with new vehicles. While there’s a lot of speculation, a teaser photo suggests the Delica…
Many people think that higher interest rates are to blame for the “lock-in effect” in the U.S. housing market, but they say that higher rates should not be called inflationary. Since low 30-year fixed-rate mortgages from the pandemic era provide financial security, fewer homeowners have been willing to sell, trade up, or refinance in the last two years. This is especially true since the Federal Reserve has decided to keep interest rates higher for longer than expected in 2024. More and more people are angry about the lock-in trend, which is making “fringe” arguments more popular. For example, some say…
The most recent quarterly report from Nvidia Corp. got a lot of good reviews. Ben Reitzes, an analyst at Melius Research, said it “had no real negatives.” And while Nvidia shares NVDA, +2.57% are up 10% on Thursday morning, the latest set of impressive numbers from the company don’t seem to be the reason for that change. Instead, Wall Street is optimistic about what’s to come for Nvidia, especially now that the company is making its new Blackwell chip line. Harsh Kumar, an analyst at Piper Sandler, said that this kind of talk was the “highlight of the call.” Kumar…
BRITAIN — Twelve people were hurt on Sunday when a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Dublin ran into rough air, according to airport officials. Eight of the hurt people were taken to the hospital. In a statement, Dublin Airport said that flight QR017, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, arrived safely and on time before 1 p.m. (1200 GMT). As the plane touched down, airport police and the fire and rescue department were there to help because “six passengers and six crew reported injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence while airborne over Turkey.” The airport said that all of the passengers…
A series B round of funding for Elon Musk’s xAI company has raised $6 billion from investors such as Fidelity Management & Research Co. and the venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. The company that makes AI said in a blog post on Sunday that the round also included investments from Valour Equity Partners, Vy Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, and Kingdom Holding. The company said, “The money from the round will be used to bring xAI’s first products to market, build advanced infrastructure, and speed up the research and development of new technologies.” “xAI’s main goal…
More and more, business leaders are still talking up artificial intelligence. And it’s not just the usual things. FactSet says that between March 15 and May 23, almost 40% of S&P 500 index SPX components talked about AI on their earnings calls with analysts. Already, there are 199 S&P 500 members, which is more than the previous high of 180 in the second quarter of 2023. The first quarter earnings season isn’t even over yet. As you might expect, the biggest players were the tech companies. The term “AI” was used 95 times on the call for Meta Platforms Inc.…
Last week, U.S. stocks hit another round of all-time highs. This made millions of Americans feel even better about their finances, which could make it harder for the Federal Reserve to fight inflation. Gallup data released this month shows that 62% of U.S. adults have money invested in the stock market. This could be through direct shares, a mutual fund, a 401(k), or an individual retirement account. This could be done alone or with a spouse. This is pretty much the same as it was in 2023, and it shows a return to levels that were common from 1998 to…
People who have been waiting to buy a new car may be able to find good deals on 2023 model-year cars over the Memorial Day weekend. This is especially true for some domestic cars, where affordability issues have caused inventory to build up. The average discount this month for a car from the year 2023 is $4,147. It was $1,919 on average for a 2022 model-year vehicle last year, according to a new study by the car-buying site Edmunds. “Discounts on vehicles from the last model year this Memorial Day weekend are a bright spot for consumers in an otherwise…
The Ifo Institute said on Monday that German businesses’ mood stayed the same in May, with a drop in the services sector. The business climate index, which is closely watched, stayed at 89.3 points in May, with companies being less happy with the current situation, according to a report from a think tank. Things did look better, though. Trade, industry, and construction all got better, while the services industry had a hard time. The manufacturing sector got better for the third month in a row, but the backlog of orders kept going down. In 2023, Germany’s economy, which is the…
More than seven months after Israel launched a massive air, sea, and ground war, Hamas demonstrated resilience on Sunday by firing a barrage of missiles from Gaza that triggered air raid sirens as far away as Tel Aviv for the first time in months. What looked to be Gaza’s first long-range rocket launch since January appeared to have caused no immediate damage or casualties. The incident was claimed by Hamas’ military arm. Communities near the Gaza border have been periodically targeted by Palestinian militants with rockets and mortar rounds. Later on Sunday, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad…
