Alex Cooper, host of the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” got to be Santa Claus a little early this year. In a new holiday episode, she revealed that she bought her parents a house this summer as a gift for all their support over the years after signing a record-breaking $125 million deal with SiriusXM SIRI -0.50%.
Cooper, 30, is from Pennsylvania but now lives in Los Angeles with her producer husband Matt Kaplan. She talked about the “emotional moment” she told her parents about her plans to buy a house. She said she told her parents about the plan earlier this year and that they all broke down in tears during the conversation.
She told the people listening that she and Kaplan told her parents, Bryan and Laurie, that they wanted “nothing in return” for the kindness. However, she did say that moving her parents from Pennsylvania to L.A. would let her use their babysitter services in the future.
In the episode, the former Barstool Sports star said, “My parents are moving to Los Angeles, California, and I bought them a house.” “It makes me sad to think about it because I had a vague idea of what I wanted “Call Her Daddy” to become when I first started working on it.”
“But being able to tell my parents this past summer, ‘I want to buy you guys a house, and I want to do this for you,'” I’m so happy to be able to help you, and I don’t expect anything in return. Just want you to be happy. I want you to do well and enjoy life. If I have kids, maybe you can watch sometimes. “It’s such a cool feeling,” she said.
Cooper lives in a $10.7 million home in Studio City, California, that she and Kaplan, 40, bought together in 2022. Cooper said that she bought the home for her parents as a way to thank them for all the things they did for her as she was growing up.
